Aeroflex has introduced the new, lightweight 3500A 1GHz hand-held Radio Test Set. The Aeroflex 3500A improves upon the success of the Aeroflex 3500, the industry’s first 1GHz hand-held test set. With improved audio analysis and operation, the Aeroflex 3500A offers lighter weight, integrated audio test connections and a new microphone interface for easier operation.
With a new cast magnesium alloy case, the Aeroflex 3500A weighs almost 0.5kg less than its predecessor, the Aeroflex 3500. Weight is an important factor for engineers and technicians when performing radio tests in the field and the Aeroflex 3500A is the first fully functional 1GHz radio test set to weigh less than 3.7kg.

“The Aeroflex 3500A provides all the tried and proven features of the Aeroflex 3500, but we’ve made it lighter and easier to use,” said Rob Barden, director of product marketing for Aeroflex. “With the Aeroflex 3500A, we were able to take off even more weight, while maintaining MIL SPEC ruggedness, making this new version more portable and usable for field service personnel. Also, we’ve added the audio connectors directly to the case, which will make audio analysis such as SINAD and distortion test quicker and easier to perform.”

The Aeroflex 3500A includes testing capabilities for AM and FM radio systems including power measurements, RSSI, frequency error, FM deviation, AM modulation index, SINAD, distortion and AF level. Optionally, the Aeroflex 3500A supports a single-channel scope and a spectrum analyzer for extended testing. The Aeroflex 3500A is P25 ready for support of P25 testing as additional features are added, and is MIL-28800F Class II certified.
