A demonstration of the significant bandwidth increases that can be achieved using a Micron P300 SSD. This test pits a single P300 SSD against 12 SAS hard drives, both running in similar server systems. As you can see, the P300 achieves almost 3x higher IOPs than 12 SAS drives in RAID 0.
Demo system details:

Test Specifics
- 4k sustained random write workload
- Drive cache enabled
- RAID controller cache enabled
- SAS drives short-stroked to provide 100GB total capacity (all three of these items provide a performance boost to the HDDs)

SAS RAID System
Drives: Twelve 15K rpm, 2.5 SAS drives in a RAID 0 configuration
Platform: Intel SSR212MC2 with a SRCSAS144E RAID controller (Server 2008)

Single SSD System
Drive: 100GB Micron P300
Platform: Intel S5000 PAL (Server 2008)
