Toshiba Electronics Europe is pleased to announce today that it will offer a Full-HD, 1.12μm, back-side illumination CMOS image sensor featuring an integrated colour noise reduction circuit for applications including mobile phones and smart phones, PCs and tablet PCs.
The T4K71 image sensor integrates both BSI and CNR to achieve a signal-to-noise ratio equal to Toshiba’s existing 1.4μm product. As a result it enables chip and camera module miniaturization and will contribute to achieving thinner smartphones and tablets.

Toshiba’s new sensor has a pixel array of 1088 (V) x 1928 (H) and satisfies the 1/7.3-inch optical format. A high-speed frame rate of 60fps at full resolution supports smooth, continuous recording of full, high-definition video.

The new sensor provides image scaling and picture flip functionality as well as lens shading correction and auto defect pixel correction. Connectivity includes I2C interface and CSI-2 interfaces.

Samples of the T4K71 will be available at the end of April 1013, with mass production scheduled to start in September.
