Inertial Aerosystems have introduced a new high performance micromachined angular rate sensor primarily for demanding military applications. Designated the QRS116, it is manufactured by U.S. based Systron Donner Inertial (SDI). It offers improved noise, faster start up and unprecedented angular random walk and in run bias stability.
The excellent performance of this sensor is based on SDI's proven quartz MEMS sensing element, which provides superior bias stability and repeatability. The bias variation with temperature is 20 degrees per hour and short term bias stability is 3 degrees per hour.

This innovative product has no moving parts, ensuring a long service life and high mean time between failures (MTBF), whilst the electronics are self contained. The input voltage is +/- 5 Vdc with a temperature range of -55 to 85 degrees C.

Ideal for use where space and weight are at a premium, it is packaged in the same dimensions as the industry standard QRS11, measuring 38mm diameter and 15.38mm in depth and weighs 60 grammes. The QRS116 features low noise, fast start-up in a rugged compact package (1000g shock) which makes for easy integration.

Applications include Stabilising Antennas, Weapons Platforms, Flight controls, Navigation, Instrumentation and Advanced Robotics.
