ETLG Ltd (Inertial Aerosystems) introduces the latest member to the magnetics family, the Honeywell HMC5983, available Q4 2011. The HMC5983 is a temperature compensated three-axis integrated circuit e-compass designed for low-field magnetic sensing for a wide range of applications, including mobile phones, tablets, netbooks, automotive navigation systems and personal navigation devices.
Using Honeywell's Anisotropic Magnetoresistive technology, this sensor excels in sensitivity, linearity, low hysteresis, null output and scale factor stability over temperature.

Standard features include set/reset and offset cancellation, strap drivers for degaussing, self test and offset compensation.

The inherent design eliminates the necessity for sensor calibration required with other magnetic sensor technologies.

The HMC5983 offers superb performance in a tiny package, 3mm x 3mm x 0.9mm. It offers a high frequency for continuous measurement mode of 220Hz and an I2C clock rate of 3.4MHz.

The HMC5983 also offers an SPI digital interface up to 8MHz for compatibility with host devices already using SPI bus. Evaluation boards and demonstration units are available for prototyping.
