Strengthening autonomous trust on the road
According to recent data from AAA, 73% of American drivers are too afraid to ride in fully self-driving vehicles and 63% of US adults feel less safe sharing the road with self-driving vehicles while walking or cycling. By Lakshmi Mandyam, VP automotive, Arm
IMUs enhance navigation in IoT devices
The ADIS1647x precision industrial inertial measurement units (IMUs) from Analog Devices are in stock at Mouser Electronics. New additions to Analog Devices’ line of MEMS IMUs, the ADIS1647x IMUs deliver improvements to navigation and safety in industrial and Internet of Things (IoT) applications, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), smart agriculture, and autonomous vehicles.
Eliminating one of the biggest fire hazards this Christmas
Overheating problems for battery chargers has become an increasingly common safety issue - especially at Christmas - causing fires at home at personal risk and dire costs for private persons as well as insurance companies. Industry expert, Niklas Kvist explains how a new IR sensor can be the solution around the festive period.
Explosion-proof gas detector for rescue forces
Gas detectors for detecting explosive and combustible gases are an indispensable part of the protective equipment of the fire brigade, disaster relief and other civil rescue teams. These devices enable helpers to establish whether an explosive atmosphere is present at the emergency location, which represents an otherwise undetectable hazardous situation.
Connect: Sensor to cloud + GPS
In this demo, Matt will set up a sensor to cloud demo using a Sub-1GHz star network topology and three sensors, including GPS.
Automotive grade sensor saves space, adds design flexibility
The Optoelectronics group of Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a fully integrated Automotive Grade proximity and ambient light sensor with four different slave address options. Featuring Filtron technology, the Vishay Semiconductors VCNL4030X01 combines photo detectors for proximity and ambient light, a signal conditioning IC, a 16-bit ADC, and a high power IRED in one compact 4 mm by 2.36 mm by 0.75 mm surface-mount package.
Compact PMS aid automation in industrial systems
It has been announced that Omron Electronics Components Europe is addressing the growing demand for contactless position and presence detection in industrial machinery, office automation and similar applications with the launch of a new range of exceptionally compact surface mount photo-microsensors.
Sensor supplier signs global deal with Mouser
Mouser Electronics and Terabee, designers of small, high-performance distance sensors for drone, robotics and IoT applications have agreed a global distribution pact. Mouser is now shipping a variety of Terabee’s TeraRanger sensors. The TeraRanger Evo distance sensors measure a single axis and return distance values in millimeters at high speed.
Intelligent sensors: the backbone of autonomous driving
Detailed environmental information is essential for autonomous vehicles. Only intelligent sensors allow safe manoeuvring. The international VDI Conference 'Automotive Sensor Systems', taking place in Munich on 13th and 14th February 2019 will focus on innovative sensor technologies for automated and autonomous driving.
eCam electromechanical lock offers convenient vehicle security
The new eCam from EMKA provides a secure electromechanical locking system to prevent opening of a manually operated latch/lock even when forced from the outside. The EMKA eCam is designed especially for trailers, mobile homes and RVs where it enables multiple locking/unlocking from a remote central point.
