Anti-theft car key case keeps thieves away
Men’s luxury fashion brand, Vanacci has launched a solution to the recent rise in car key thefts. The firm’s brand-new product, KeyBlock, uses RFID-blocking technology to prevent thieves from gaining access to a car without a key. Its Kickstarter campaign surpassed its campaign goal of £1,000 by more than 300% in 24 hours.
LVDTs offer feedback for monitoring flight parameters of UAVs
Unmanned drones require a variety of sensors to monitor different critical measurements to control flight and maintain aircraft stability. Miniature Linear Position Sensors from NewTek Sensor Solutions provide reliable position feedback for monitoring the fin/rudder position and rotor angle of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) with quick response times so UAVs can make adjustments to accurately control flight.
Two million in funding secured for fingerprint sensor
Disruptive fingerprint technology company, Touch Biometrix, has received a £2m investment from Deepbridge Capital. The Series A funding through the Deepbridge Technology Growth Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) fund follows initial seed funding of £150,000 last year. North Wales based Touch Biometrix is developing a new class of fingerprint sensor for application to consumer electronics such as smartphones and laptops.
Room sensor enclosures keep air flowing around sensitive electronics
BCL Enclosures has announced the availability of BCS Series sensor enclosures, which are specially designed to keep the air flowing around sensitive electronics, including thermostats, sensor probes, temperature, gas and humidity sensing applications.
Tailor-made 3D-MID solutions for automotive applications
A division of the HARTING Technology Group based in Biel, Switzerland, HARTING AG Biel, used the recent Geneva Motor Show to feature its expertise in 3D-MID (three-dimensional moulded interconnect device) technology solutions for the automotive industry. Applications featured included a position sensor for adaptive cruise control and a robot hand which is used to simulate human gripping processes.
Automotive image sensor for cabin monitoring segment
Developer of advanced digital imaging solutions, OmniVision Technologies, has announced the OV2778 automotive image sensor, which claims to provide the best value of any 2MP RGB-IR sensor for cabin- and occupant-monitoring. With its complement of features, this sensor is well suited for interior applications such as detecting packages and unattended children.
TMR sensor meets AEC-Q100 qualifications
The first magnetic sensors from Infineon Technologies based on tunnel magneto resistance (TMR) technology are in stock at Mouser Electronics. The TLE5501 sensors are ideal for automotive brushless DC (BLDC) motor commutation in devices such as wipers, pumps, and actuators, as well as for steering angle sensing and integration in electric motors.
Project to develop next-generation of batteries and sensors
CPI is part of a project focused on next generation battery and sensor work. Operating alongside partners on the BatterySense programme, CPI is supporting work to reduce the size of existing wireless sensing form factors by exploiting additive manufacture. This allows for the intimate integration of batteries into the substrates of ultrathin label-like sensors fabricated by roll-to-roll processes.
Sensor technology opens up for smarter presence detection
New sensor technology can bring about new and more efficient presence detection in, for example, the construction and real estate sector. The solution is a small, inexpensive, battery-powered and IoT-caged sensor that will also be able to be connected very quickly with the help of the upcoming 5G networks. Anders Jansson, CTO at the Swedish IR sensor company, JonDeTech, explains how.
Automotive grade current sensor IC improves safety
Allegro MicroSystems has announced a new family of automotive AEC-Q100 qualified, monolithic Hall effect current sensor ICs. Small and energy efficient, the ACS71240 family is suitable for electric vehicle chargers, DC/DC converters, as well as industrial motor and IOT applications.
