Imec and Holst Centre report gas sensor chip paving the way to autonomous e-nose

Imec and Holst Centre report gas sensor chip paving the way to autonomous e-nose
Imec and Holst Centre have developed very sensitive integrated sensing elements for gas detection. The polymer-coated microbridges in high-density arrays can detect ppm-level concentrations of vapors using on-chip integrated read-out techniques. The demonstrated technology is very suitable for miniaturization of electronic nose devices thanks to the low power consumption (

Deeter Group Introduces Complete Wireless Sensor System for Industrial Measuring and Control

Deeter Group Introduces Complete Wireless Sensor System for Industrial Measuring and Control
The Deeter Group announced the launch of its Wireless Sensor System for industrial measurement and control. At the centre of the system is the simple-to-use Base Station designed to receive data from remote wireless devices such as the Deeter Liquid Vertical Sensor (LVCS-RF). The base station converts remote sensor input signals into industry standard process outputs. The Base Station acts as the coordinator for an IEEE 802.15.4 wireless sensor network. It operates on one of 16 radio frequency channels available in the 2.4GHz ISM band. The high power transceiver can achieve a range of greater than 1km, subject to local environmental factors. The internationally recognised IEEE 802.15.4 protocol allows several wireless sensor networks to share the same wireless spectrum without interference.

IAS: Analogue Current Sensor for High-Side Shunt-based Current Monitoring

IAS: Analogue Current Sensor for High-Side Shunt-based Current Monitoring
At the Sensor+Test fair in Nuremberg, Isabellenhütte unveiled its precision current sensor with analogue voltage output. The new sensor, the IAS, does not require a digital interface or digital converter, reducing size and costs – an important benefit for users in many different fields (e.g. automotive applications, energy management systems and general current sensing applications). The choice of used shunts ranges from 0.1 to 1 mOhm, meaning the measurement area and the dynamic range can be set for up to 100 dB; with a 500-µOhm, for example, pulse current of 800 A can be measured for 100 ms at a resolution of more than 20 mA.
