Tiny digital IR proximity sensing module enhances earbuds
ams has launched what they claim to be the world’s smallest digital proximity sensor module. The ultra-small package of the TMD2635 occupies just 1mm3 of volume and enables audio manufacturers of True Wireless Stereo (TWS) earbud products to develop smaller, lighter industrial design earbuds.
Analogue output temperature sensor for powertrain
The TMP23x-Q1 devices from Texas Instruments are a family of automotive grade precision CMOS integrated-circuit linear analogue temperature sensors with an output voltage proportional to temperature, serving various automotive applications from powertrain to infotainment. These temperature sensors have a typical accuracy from zero to +70°C of ±0.5°C.
Automotive SoC offers high low-light performance for cameras
OmniVision Technologies has announced from the AutoSens conference its 1.3MP OX01F10 SoC, providing automotive designers with excellent imaging performance across a wide range of challenging lighting conditions, along with the most compact form factor and lowest power consumption.
Automotive image sensor fusion technologies improved quality
OmniVision has combined OmniVision’s OX03A1Y image sensor with the Arm Mali-C71 image signal processor (ISP) for a dual-mode automotive camera module. OmniVision’s sensor features quality across all lighting conditions for rear and surround view cameras, as well as a broad range of machine vision applications for ADAS and autonomous driving platforms.
IR temperature sensor shows measurement in situ
A low-cost non-contact voltage-output temperature sensor designed for factory maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) in smart manufacturing environments has been released by RS Components. It meets the demands of maintenance engineers who need a small, low-cost temperature sensor that can fit into tight spaces, and that shows the measured temperature in situ.
Wire free, solar powered solution for in-place-inclinometers
Senceive has announced an addition to its sensor interface range with a wire free, solar powered, easy to deploy gateway solution for In-Place-Inclinometers (IPI), which are used to detect lateral geotechnical and structural displacement profiles; providing easy connectivity to precise and reliable remote monitoring for earthworks.
Intelligent mmWave sensor antenna-on-package evaluation module
The IWR6843 antenna-on-package (AoP) evaluation module (EVM) is an easy-to-use mmWave sensor EVM with integrated, short-range, wide field-of-view (FoV) AoP technology, which enables direct connectivity to the mmWave sensors carrier card platform (MMWAVEICBOOST) and allows for stand-alone use.
Soil sensor minimises environmental damage
Murata has announced a highly accurate soil sensor that contains three sensors in one package. Aimed at the agricultural and horticultural industries, the sensor enables growers to increase the yield and quality of crops while experiencing lower costs associated with reduced water and fertiliser usage, these being the most important application areas for the sensor.
Open bank accounts by face-authentication in Japan
Seven Bank and NEC Corporation have announced the development of a next-generation ATM, which has a facial recognition engine with what claims to be world leading certification accuracy. The ATM is to be installed and to replace old machines from this September.
Proximity sensor delivers 33% increase in detection distance
A proximity sensor that offers a sensing distance of up to 30cm has been released by the Optoelectronics group of Vishay Intertechnology. Combining an IR emitter, photo detectors for proximity, amplifiers, and ADC circuitry into a single package, the Vishay Semiconductors VCNL3040 features a programmable interrupt function.
