OV64A image sensor with large optical format
OmniVision Technologies has announced the OV64A image sensor, offering 64 megapixel (MP) resolution with the largest pixel size in its class, at 1.0 micron, along with a class-leading optical format of 1/1.34”. Its large optics and high resolution provide premium low light performance for the wide and ultrawide main cameras in high end smartphones.
TMR magnetic sensors offer enhanced accuracy
Murata is now including in its portfolio advanced 1D linear and 2D angular sensor devices from Crocus Technology based on tunnel magnetic resistance (TMR) technology.
ACEINNA pact bolsters Digi-Key's Marketplace initiative
In a move to intensify its Marketplace initiative Digi-Key Electronics has sealed a global distribution partnership with ACEINNA.
Touch tech to enhance visitor experience in downtown Greensboro
Zytronic’s all-weather projected capacitive touch sensors have helped the city of Greensboro breathe new life into its downtown area. The durable interactive technology has provided the user interface to thirteen double-sided, 55” public information terminals, which look and work like giant sized smartphones. The North Carolina municipality deployed the kiosks to give timely information to passers-by, such as nearby restaurants, local...
XGS CMOS image sensors enhance industrial imaging
ON Semiconductor has expanded their XGS family of CMOS image sensors with high performance, low noise products that offer 12-bit image quality at a high frame rate. The new offerings include the XGS 45000, the XGS 30000 and the XGS 20000, which provide detailed imaging with up to 45 Mp for resolution critical applications and up to 60 fps in 8K video mode.
Smart earbuds make sleep easier and more enjoyable
Kokoon has announced the newest product in its sleep audio range is now available to back on Kickstarter here. NightBuds is the follow up product to Kokoon’s hugely successful smart earbuds, launched in 2015, which went on to sell over 30,000 units. The NightBuds, at just 5.4mm thickness are the smallest in-ear sleep audio product currently available with pledges starting from £99/$125 and delivery expected in Q2 2021.
Microcontroller-agnostic module form factor for smart sensors
PICMG has announced the ratification of the MicroSAM specification. MicroSAM is a new microcontroller-agnostic, ultra-small form-factor module for the enablement of smart sensors. MicroSAM is the first PICMG specification in a series of IIoT-related open standards to reach ratification. It is an open hardware specification that addresses the fast-growing sensor market.
Precision mixing contains costs for product development
A pre-pilot precision mixing plant is using wireless TorqSense transducers for ultra-accurate viscosity measurement of high-value compounds. The plant is used to prepare small batches of compounds from shampoo and detergent to cosmetics, therapeutic and medical preparations. Some of the ingredients in the compounds are very expensive, so product developers are loath to make large batches early in the formulation process.
CMOS global shutter image sensor for machine vision
ON Semiconductor has introduced the AR0234CS 2.3 Mp CMOS image sensor with global shutter technology. The high-performance sensor is designed for a variety of applications including machine vision cameras, AR/VR/MR headsets, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and barcode readers.
Ruggedised magnetic proximity sensor improves remote monitoring
C&K has expanded its offering of magnetic proximity sensors to enhance flexibility and reliability for non-contact position and proximity detection in tough environments. Featuring a ruggedised aluminum housing and a stainless steel cable, the MPSR Series provides excellent sensing in dirty environments.
