Meet and greet service robots at automatica 2018
Interact with robots and see them in action at the dedicated Service Robotics Demo Park at automatica 2018. From 19th-22nd June, in Hall B4, over a dozen exhibitors will be showcasing a wide range of professional service robots, in applications from detection and individual picking of objects, cleaning and transport to rehabilitation, personal assistance and public relations.
Duo reveal new plans for end-of-arm tooling venture
Universal Robots and the Danish Growth Fund are planning to address the next challenge in automation with the merger of three innovative end-of-arm tooling companies to facilitate the ongoing growth of collaborative robotics, an industry expected to reach $8.5bn by 2025.
Keeping robots on the move
To illustrate its capabilities within robotic equipment manufacture, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions has launched a video and augmented reality brochure.
Robotics and big data start-ups at automatica
This year for the first time, the Barcelona Mobile World Capital Foundation (MWCapital) will take part in automatica, the exhibition for Smart Automation and Robotics, to be held from 19th-22nd June in Munich. MWCapital teams up with Messe München organising the automatica Start-up Arena in the Future and Innovation Hall B4. Drones are transforming our interaction with the oceans
For millennia human interaction with the world’s oceans has been one of great contrast. You have on one hand, the relationship has been built on reliance, with great dependence placed on these waters for food and commerce. However, on the other, interaction has been defined by mystery and intrigue, with as much as 95% of the world's oceans and 99% of the ocean floor remaining unexplored according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Admi...
Drones could give UK economy a lift during the next decade
While some companies and organisations are perhaps feeling a little apprehensive in the lead up to Brexit, new research has suggested that the country’s economy could receive a huge boost due to the cost saving potential behind the use of drones and how they can transform working practices.
Robo-farmers could shape the future of agriculture
Many industries spanning automotive manufacturing and electronics to textiles and agriculture, adopt robotic technologies to reduce labour costs, increase yield and lower their carbon footprint. As Hadlow College is celebrating its 50th anniversary with the Vision50 ‘looking into the future of farming’ campaign, it is a poignant time to showcase the benefits robotics has to offer, including the transformative impact it is having on fa...
Fly like an albatross, cruise like a sailboat
MIT engineers have designed a robotic glider that can skim along the water’s surface, riding the wind like an albatross while also surfing the waves like a sailboat. In regions of high wind, the robot is designed to stay aloft, much like its avian counterpart. Where there are calmer winds, the robot can dip a keel into the water to ride like a highly efficient sailboat instead.
Generation robot: Sharing the world with our machines
What if the future is about more than just human interaction, but also sharing the world with our machines?
Researchers help robots work alongside humans
Researchers from NVIDIA have developed a first of its kind deep learning-based system that can teach a robot to complete a task by just observing the actions of a human.
