Discover new products in support of robotics
MathWorks has introduced Release 2019b with a range of new capabilities in MATLAB and Simulink, including those in support of artificial intelligence, deep learning and the automotive industry. In addition, R2019b introduces new products in support of robotics, new training resources for event-based modelling, and updates and bug fixes across the MATLAB and Simulink product families.
Indoor drone with customised electronic modules
Just how dependent unmanned flying is on high-quality and functioning printed circuit boards, components and solder joints is shown by flying in enclosed spaces. “Many UAS are equipped with standard components. But flying in enclosed spaces also requires good communication and navigation transmission as well as powerful, dimmable, small headlights," said Jörg Nolte, Product Manager Soldering Tools, Rework and Inspection Systems at Ersa...
Industrial robot growth soars in India
Sales of industrial robots in India reached a new record of 4,771 new units installed in 2018. That represents an increase of 39% compared to the previous year (3,412 units). India now ranks 11th worldwide in terms of annual installations. These are the findings of the report World Robotics 2019, presented by the International Federation of Robotics (IFR).
Intelligent, soft robotic clothing to aid independently living
The team behind The Right Trousers, which develops intelligent, soft robotic clothing to help older people and people with disabilities live more independently, will be showing its technology at Bot-Talks, an open event to be held in Bristol on Wednesday 20th November for SMEs, and organised by Bristol robotics online platform, Bot-Hive.
Enhanced vision for robots simplifies setup
Yamaha Factory Automation Section has introduced next-generation vision for its uniquely flexible range of SCARA, cartesian, orbital, single-, and multi-axis robots. The latest iVY2 system, hosted on Yamaha’s state-of-the-art RCX340 robot controller, simplifies setup, accelerates performance and, for the first time, brings vision into the overall robot-control program for ease of use and efficiency.
Every second counts when countering drones
The market for small consumer drones is booming. However, these inexpensive and easy-to-fly devices bring safety and security issues. The Rohde & Schwarz (R&S) ARDRONIS drone monitoring system helps businesses, government authorities and critical infrastructures to protect against drone misuse.
Top 3: Uses for underwater drones
With advanced camera technology and deep diving capabilities, underwater drones have helped to enhance human efforts in vital oceanic activities.
UK industry still sceptical about deployment of robots
A robotics industry expert believes that UK industry remains sceptical about the deployment of robots, and that what is needed is a more positive and realistic attitude. Dr Susanne Bieller, General Secretary of the International Federation of Robotics, voiced her thoughts ahead of Bot-Talks, an open event to be held in Bristol on Wednesday 20th November for SMEs, and organised by Bristol robotics online platform, Bot-Hive.
Plug-n-play robots for machine tools increase competitiveness
Faster time to market and increased production flexibility can be achieved using Mitsubishi Electric’s M8 Series CNC controllers with Direct Robot Control (DRC) functionality. Both the large touchscreen M800 and the M80 models offer DRC as standard. It allows machine tool operators to program and use robots quickly, direct from the CNC panel without specialist robot programming expertise.
BT launches counter drone solution to protect from rogue drones
BT today announced the launch of a new counter drone solution that will help organisations to protect themselves from threats to privacy, security and safety by intruding drones. The new counter drone solution, provided by BT’s Enterprise unit, will give organisations the capability to detect, track and identify drones which breach airspace and site limits, helping security staff respond to threats quickly and pro-actively. Where lawfu...
