A full-featured spectrum analyser designed to analyse wireless signals in real-time (not progressively scanned) has been unveiled by Saelig. The feature is essential for seeing intermittent and frequency-hopped signals. The RTSA7500 has all the standard features of a sophisticated, expensive bench-top spectrum analyser, but at lower cost as it uses a PC for the display and processing power.

Frequency controls, marker functions for tracking specific frequencies and multi-trace functionality are all included, as well as a real-time triggering for measuring complex data signals such as Wi-Fi and LTE. Sophisticated FPGA-based digital signal processing within the analyser enables the capture of elusive time-varying signals across an instantaneous bandwidth of up to 100MHz.

The real-time analysis of the instrument combines patented, low-cost digital software-defined radio technology, open source software, standard APIs, and a PC-controlled architecture to provide unparalleled performance in a very economical instrument.

The analyser utilises industry-leading APIs/standards (including LabView drivers) and open-source code to allow easy customization, remote control, and installation in test fixtures. It processes RF signals at a speed fast enough to detect any signals in a given captured bandwidth.

Signals can be viewed in the frequency and time domains as well as power spectral density to enable analysis of signals that may be undetectable to the human eye. It also provides the capability to trigger on events, capture them, and record them for playback and subsequent deeper analysis.

Another useful feature of the RTSA7500 is the ability to make measurements remotely via the Internet.

This is ideal for monitoring applications where personnel are not always available. The Model RTSA7500 is a powerful and cost-effective solution for spectrum analyser needs in the lab, on the manufacturing floor or out in the field. It is available in four versions:RTSA7500-8B- 100 kHz to 8 GHz with 10 MHz RTBW; RTSA7500-8- 100 kHz to 8 GHz with 100 MHz RTBW; RTSA7500-18- 100 kHz to 18 GHz with 100 MHz RTBW; RTSA7500-27- 100 kHz to 27 GHz with 100 MHz RTBW.
