Datest recently added an Akila XR-3 X-ray inspection system from Christopher Associates to enhance its test service offerings. As Christopher Associates’ approved Demonstration Site for the XR-3, Datest will make its facility available for product demos and plant tours involving the XR-3.
The XR-3 provides Datest with a cost-effective means of determining the root cause of failures detected by its other test platforms (ICT, flying probe, boundary scan, etc.). “The XR-3 gives us a reliable verification system that is easy to use, fast to set up, and acts as an interactive tool for showing customers real-time evidence of board failures. Additionally, the system gives us an inexpensive means of verifying suspected failures without going through the time and trouble to write entire test programs. Now, we can immediately drill down to the level of the suspect component(s) and see what is going on,” commented Rob Boguski, President & CEO of Datest.

“By using the XR-3 in conjunction with the Intek Plus solder paste inspection systems and Marantz AOI systems, we are able to offer our clients some of the best tools in the industry to reduce defects, repair those that we find more efficiently and improve long-term yields. Sophisticated inspection technology can be expensive and must be user friendly. The XR-3 and our other inspection technologies offer excellent performance at very competitive pricing,” commented Matt Holzmann, President & CEO of Christopher Associates.

The award-winning Akila XR-3 provides the ability to inspect panels for registration accuracy in the printed circuit fabrication process and for defects such as excess solder, insufficient solder, voids, bridging and other defects in printed circuit assembly. With its low maintenance sealed type X-ray source and 118° emitter, the Akila XR-3 offers unparalleled performance and accuracy.

The XR-3 is ergonomically designed to ensure operator comfort and maximize performance. Its ease of use and intuitive software make it one of the most user-friendly systems on the market. The Akila X-ray systems break new ground in cost of ownership ― they are designed for advanced applications and production with minimal maintenance and operating costs. The acquisition cost is among the most competitive in the industry, opening up new markets and applications.
