Conrad Business Supplies has added a triple channel DC power supply unit (PSU) to its portfolio of equipment from Keithley Instruments.  Ideal for use in electrical engineering teaching labs, the 2231A-30-3 delivers enough power – 195W – to operate a vast range of circuits and devices used on bench tops. The analogue circuitry and digital circuitry of a printed circuit board – or a complete device – can now be powered up with just a single instrument.

Designed with convenience in mind, the unit is operated via the front panel where there is a numeric keypad for data entry and a rotary knob for step change. An optional USB adapter enables automated control through a PC.

The 2231A-30-3 PSU provides three isolated, independent and fully programmable outputs, with noise per output at less than 5mVp-p. Two channels can supply up to 30V at 3A (90W) each while the third channel offers up to 5V at 3A (15W). The new unit can also manage serial and parallel connections of 30V channels simultaneously to deliver twice the power (60V or 6A).

This affordable PSU can monitor levels on all channels at the same time and display them continuously. The operator also benefits from independent on/off control and an output timer function to turn each channel on and off separately. And, because all outputs are not referenced to ground, power can be supplied to floating circuits as well as grounded circuits.

Thomas Pilhofer, Product Manager, Category Business Supplies at Conrad Electronic, said: "I am confident that this powerful, versatile and easy-to-use power supply unit will prove to be extremely popular in the electrical engineering education sector. It makes a superb addition to the range of equipment we have on offer from Keithley Instruments."
