National Instruments Releases ECU Measurement and Calibration Toolkit 2.0
National Instruments has released the ECU Measurement and Calibration Toolkit 2.0, extending the National Instruments LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI and Microsoft Visual C/C++ development environments to support measurement and calibration applications for designing and validating automotive electronic control units (ECUs).
Shimadzu equipment for RoHS validation of components
Lambda UK, manufacturer of power supplies, has been using instruments from Shimadzu to test components for compliance with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS) directives, which came into effect at the beginning of July 2006.
Aeroflex adds Dual Vacuum Control capability to 5220 Power Manufacturing Defects Analyser
Aeroflex has announced that a Dual Vacuum Control capability has been added to its 5220 Power Manufacturing Defects Analyser. This new capability allows dual well vacuum test fixtures to be directly controlled by the test system. Full backwards compatibility is maintained with existing test programs and fixtures.
Eight-channel digitiser is lowest price-per-channel high-speed data acquisition product in its class
National Instruments has announced the NI PXI-5105 eight-channel digitiser, the lowest price-per-channel high-speed data acquisition product in its class, which offers a cost-effective alternative to systems that use multiplexed A/D converters or switches to increase channel count.
Dual-range, non-intrusive current sensors
LEM has introduced a series of dual-range, automotive-qualified sensors for accurate, wide-range current measurements in vehicle battery monitoring applications. The 25 models in the DHAB range are said to be the first in the industry to offer non-intrusive, galvanically-isolated solutions in this application.
SCOPE SETS A NEW STANDARD – IMPRESSIVE PERFORMANCE WITHOUT THE PRICE TAG
The GDS 2000 series of digital storage oscilloscopes, just launched by GW Instek, is destined to become the new benchmark for mid-range, general-purpose DSOs. Offering 1GS/s sampling rate, 25k point memory, USB support, TFT liquid crystal display, battery power operation and easy to use software, this range of six instruments delivers impressive performance at highly competitive prices.
Non-contact rotary position sensor looks great value for money
The SV21 series of rotary position sensors from Murata is said to represent a breakthrough in the price/performance barrier for these increasingly popular ‘non-contact’ devices. To date, they have been significantly more expensive than traditional contact types, but with the SV21 series, Murata delivers a low cost non-contact sensor without compromising on performance or reliability.
Reflective Optical Encoders with Higher-Resolution
Avago Technologies has announced a higher resolution option for its AEDR-8300 series of reflective optical encoders, which are also among the industry's smallest. The new AEDR-8300-1Wx offers 212 LPI (lines per inch), higher maximum count frequency at 60 KHz and operates from a single 3.3 V to 5.0 V supply.
Low-cost Analog Output devices for USB
Measurement Computing has announced three low-cost, 16-bit high-drive analog output USB devices. The USB-3110, USB-3112, and USB-3114 have integrated high-drive voltage outputs, eliminating the need for external high-drive amplifiers. The USB-3100 series’ proprietary architecture virtually eliminates dead-band (unresponsive) codes. In addition, the product line is factory calibrated to be out-of-the-box ready for system deployment.
True 3D Coplanarity Inspection Increases Production Yield
Adaptsys has announced the availability of true 3D optical coplanarity inspection for V-TEK taping machines. By inspecting parts prior to taping, manufacturing defects such as lead burr and coplanarity problems caused by handling of parts can be identified and parts rejected before they cause a board to fail. The increased manufacturing yield and reduction in subsequent failures offer substantial savings for electronics equipment manufacturers.
