Accurately measuring angular velocity in test and measurement applications, an angular rate sensor has been introduced by Measurement Specialties. The Model 620 is a MEMS-based angular rate gyroscope which has been designed for harsh environments with high shock, where accurate angular velocity measurements are required.

The compact angular rate sensor is suited for high impact automotive safety testing, such as crash test, pedestrian impact and rollover testing, and additional testing and OEM applications, such as munitions testing, motorsports and biomechanics testing.

Operating over a temperature range from -40 to +105°C, the Model 620 is available in dynamic ranges from ±500 to ±50,000°/s. The device weighs 3g and provides a low cross-axis sensitivity of less than 1%, a differential zero acceleration output of ±100mV and an excitation voltage of 7-16V DC (a 5V DC option is also available).

All active elements and electronics in the unit are hermetically sealed in an environmentally sealed, shock resistant aluminium package that can withstand up to 10,000g.
