PSC-360: Contactless Position Sensor
The PSC-360 is a vertical hall-effect magnetic sensor that is designed to overcome the limitations of potentiometer-based devices in a wide range of applications. The performance of magnetic sensors has traditionally been limited by their poor tolerance to thermal and magnetic fluctuations. And although these limitations can be overcome by careful circuit design, the complexity this has entailed has often discouraged OEMs from designing with thes...
NXP Integrates NDS MediaHighway for High-Definition Set Top Box
NXP Semiconductors today announced that it has integrated NDS MediaHighway set-top box software onto CX2450x, a highly integrated SoC solution for high-definition set top boxes. The cooperation will largely reduce the set top box operators and OEMs' time to market and integration cost to bring new digital pay-TV services with a range of interactive TV applications to their subscribers. The CX2450x with NDS MediaHighway will be demonstrated at IBC...
Low Cost Solid State Angular Rotation Sensor
Inertial Aerosystems has introduced a low cost solid state angular rotation sensor designed primarily for original equipment manufacturers (O.E.M’s). Designated the Horizon unit, it is manufactured by U.S. based Systron Donner Inertial.
Link introduces design-and-build service for RF and microwave systems
Link Microtek, the manufacturer and supplier of RF and microwave components and associated hardware, has introduced a new service for the design and manufacture of complete RF or microwave systems to meet customers’ specific requirements.
Hall Effect Current Sensors from Raztec
The current sensors from the series RAZC-2, RAZV-2 and RAZU-2 are ultra compact and cost-effective current sensors for PCB mounting, and are best suited for current measurements and current control in switch-mode power supplies, motor controllers, charge regulators and much more.
Touch-Interface Solutions have Integrated Haptic Controller Drivers and Proximity Sensing
Maxim has introduced the MAX11810 and MAX11811, the first touch-interface systems with integrated 4-wire touch-screen controllers, haptic controller drivers, and infrared-based proximity sensing. Designed for applications flexibility, these devices can drive a DC motor directly or piezo elements using an external piezo driver. The MAX11800 and MAX11801 are register-map-compatible versions without haptic controller drivers and proximity sensing.
Silicon Pressure Sensors provide industry-leading total error band specification
Honeywell has introduced its TruStability Silicon Pressure Sensors comprised of the HSC (High Accuracy Silicon Ceramic) Series and SSC (Standard Accuracy Silicon Ceramic) Series that offer customers key benefits not found in other silicon pressure sensors currently available.
Bipolar Hall-Effect Magnetic Position Sensors
Honeywell has introduced its SS30AT Bipolar Hall-Effect Magnetic Position Sensor, a subminiature SOT-23 surface mount package that takes up less space on the printed circuit board (PCB). Honeywell has optimized the size of the integrated circuit, saving on manufacturing costs while still meeting customer requirements. These cost savings result in lower costs to customers. Available on tape and reel, the SS30AT often allows for automated pick-and-...
Honeywell - Small Force Sensors
Honeywell has introduced its smallest force sensor, the FSS-SMT Series, a low profile surface mount device that allows for automated assembly on a printed circuit board (PCB), often eliminating hand soldering and helping to reduce assembly costs. Cost-conscious customers will be attracted to the FSS-SMT Series because it provides all four points of the Wheatstone bridge sensing element that gives them the flexibility to customize and integrate th...
Wireless medical temperature sensor sets new standards for precision
Cambridge Temperature Concepts has designed a wireless temperature sensor that can measure body temperature to within a thousandth of a degree – current solutions typically have precision of a tenth of a degree. The coin sized unit also uses innovative power saving techniques to extend the battery life to in excess of six months rather than the usual life of a few days. The sensor’s unprecedented precision and long life open up many new app...
