Infineon sensor chips help CERN to detect dark matter
95% of the universe is still considered unexplored. Scientists at CERN, the world’s largest particle physics research centre, are working on solving these mysteries. In May 2012, researchers there discovered the so-called Higgs Boson, whose prediction won Peter Higgs and François Englert the Nobel prize in physics.
Magnetic position sensors improve automotive safety
Expanding its automotive safety compliant sensor portfolio, ams has announced its first magnetic position sensors fully developed using the automotive industry’s programme for ISO26262 safety compliance.
Reducing time to market with complex drivers
Hitex has created a set of specialised complex drivers for Infineon AURIX that can be used in addition to Infineon’s MC-ISAR low level drivers based on the AUTOSAR MCAL layer or with any other SW architecture.
MISRA clarifies safe and secure uses of the C language
MISRA is releasing new documents to clarify use of the MISRA C Guidelines in developing any application with high integrity or high reliability requirements - both safety related and security related. The release will take place at a MISRA workshop at the Device Developer Conference in Cambridge on 27th April.
Providing the pedal power for mountain bike world champion
Equipment used in elite sport needs to be optimised and teams will go to great lengths to ensure their equipment will performance at its best – just look at Formula One. And this is certainly the case for Loic Bruni, the 2015 UCI Mountain Bike & Trials Downhill World Champion.
Wide range of foil strain sensors added to in-stock programme
Micro-Measurements, a Vishay Precision Group brand, has announced that it has doubled its Super Stock programme offerings. The off-the-shelf delivery programme now offers Micro-Measurements' worldwide network of customers an even broader range of general-purpose foil strain sensors. The pattern offerings cover the gamut of Micro-Measurements' product portfolio.
8:1 sensor interface AFE simplifies sensor conditioning
The latest addition to Exar's family of AFE sensor interfaces, the XR18910, integrates high channel count and functionality in a tiny 3.5x3.5mm footprint. Providing 14-bit signal path linearity, the device is designed to connect analog sensors to an MCU or FPGA with an embedded ADC.
Sensirion offers protective cover for SHT3x humidity sensors
An optional polyimide foil directly attached to the top surface of the sensor, a protective cover for selected humidity sensors of the SHT3x series has been announced by Sensirion. It covers the SHT3x’s complete sensing area and thus acts as a reliable shield against pollution during SMT assembly of the sensor and subsequent processes, such as conformal coating or potting.
Sensor processor node enables intelligent sensing
The IoT describes devices and applications that gather and distribute data for everyday life. Sensor devices and processes that will underpin the IoT need to be small, versatile and energy efficient. Now A*STAR researchers have developed a sensor processor node that is capable of intelligent sensing while using ultra-low levels of power. IoT applications range from biomedical signal processing to uses in vehicle-status monitoring and environmenta...
3D magnetic sensor provides 12-bit data resolution
The TLV493D-A1B6 3D magnetic sensor from Infineon Technologies is now being shipped by Mouser Electronics. The magnetic sensor offers accurate three dimensional sensing plus integrated temperature sensing with low power consumption. Within its small six-pin package, the sensor provides direct measurement of the x, y, and z magnetic axes, making it well suited for measuring 3D movement, linear travel, and 360-degree angle rotation.
