Sensor extends measurement range up to two meters
The VL53L0X laser-ranging sensor from STMicroelectronics is now being shipped by Mouser Electronics. The time-of-flight (ToF) sensor integrates a leading-edge single photon avalanche diode (SPAD) array and the second generation of ST’s FlightSense technology to extend the measurement range up to two meters.
Highly integrated Hall sensors reduce system costs
A family of Hall sensors introduced by Infineon Technologies enable automotive, industrial and consumer electronics to meet strict environmental standards. They will also help fulfil the requirements of very cost-effective and compact designs. Available as latch and switch-type sensors, the TLx496x family Hall sensors are highly integrated, have precise switching points, a stable operation and a low power consumption.
TPMS can be connected to a vehicle's CANbus system
TyrePal announces its CANbus TMPS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System) designed for use in buses, commercial vehicles and customised vehicles such as fire engines and ambulances. The device includes a module that can be connected to the vehicle's CANbus system, allowing tyre pressure sensors to interact with the other parts of the vehicle, such as on-board display, control systems and integrated telematics.
Fingerprint test sensor kit handed Chinese order
Multitest’s InStrip has been selected to be the platform of a set up for high parallel testing of fingerprint sensors in China. The solution relies on Multitest’s established and production proven InStrip / InCarrier, which is extended to fingerprint testing by a dedicated conversion kit (CK).
Sensors to monitor astronaut health on long space trips
Plans begin decades in advance for a tremendous effort such as the first manned mission to Mars. The details are as fine – and essential – as how astronauts will breathe and eat and track their health. "There's no doubt that the transportation is taken care of. The spacecraft will be developed," says Ram Gandhiraman, a scientist with Universities Space Research Association at NASA Ames Research Center.
IR array sensors boast improved accuracy
The second generation of Grid-EYE infrared (IR) array sensors from Panasonic is now being shipped by Mouser |Electronics. The sensors are fully compatible with first generation Grid-EYE sensors, and feature improved accuracy through an updated Noise Equivalent Temperature Difference (NETD) of 0.16 degrees Celsius at 10Hz and 0.05 degrees Celsius at 1 Hz with detection distance up to 7 meters.
Current transducer accurately monitors loads up to 400A
The AT/ATR-FD series current transducer has been introduced by NK Technologies. An aperture with a 1.31” inside diameter accommodates wire sizes for loads up to 400A – facilitating the feeding of wires through the sensing window for easy installation, even in applications with multiple conductors per phase. The sensor is compact (similar in size to a standard sensor case) and can be easily mounted on a back panel or DIN rail. It is co...
Hall-effect sensor IC offers reverse battery protection
The A1367 is a field programmable linear Hall-effect current sensor IC, from Allegro MicroSystems Europe, featuring a 240kHz bandwidth, integrated voltage regulator, reverse battery protection, user-selectable ratiometry and uni- or bi-directional output options.
Price erosion negates sales growth to slow sensor market
Despite strong double-digit percentage increases in annual unit shipments, semiconductor sensor sales growth has become uncharacteristically lethargic because of steep price erosion in several major product categories. Strong unit demand is being fuelled by new wearable systems, greater automation in vehicles and the much-anticipated IoT, but sharply falling ASPs on accelerometers, gyroscope chips and magnetic-field measuring devices are capping ...
Geolocation solution opens opportunities for IoT network in Scotland
Semtech Corporation has announced that its LoRa geolocation solution has been integrated into a LoRaWAN-based IoT network that covers 12km2 of Glasgow, including the commercial centre, Merchant City and the West End. This Low Power, Wide Area Network (LPWAN) will help enable the development and use of devices such as building and indoor environmental monitors, pollution sensors, tags for tracking valuable assets and social care devices designed t...
