NTC temperature elements meet AEC Q200 standard
Now available in Europe through TTI is a series of NTC temperature elements from TDK for a wide range of applications. The design is covering NTC elements with standard lead spacing, minisensor NTCs with flexible wires, glass encapsulated NTC elements for temperatures up to 300°C, as well as leadless NTC chips for bonding - sintering/soldering technology.
Battery temperature sensors target EV applications
A new comprehensive range of battery temperature sensing products from Amphenol Advanced Sensors for use in electric and hybrid electric vehicles and industrial portable power applications can now be sourced in Europe through TTI. The range offers reliable and accurate temperature measurement, an issue that is critical to long-term battery performance.
Low noise MEMS accelerometers target condition monitoring
Two high frequency, low noise MEMS accelerometers designed specifically for industrial condition monitoring applications have been announced by Analog Devices. The ADXL1001 and ADXL1002 MEMS accelerometers deliver the high resolution vibration measurements necessary for early detection of bearing faults and other common causes of machine failure.
Liquid sensor devices protect Telecom equipment
With a large proportion of telecom infrastructure being located outdoors, it will regularly be exposed to adverse weather conditions. The threat of rainwater ingress is something that telecom companies need to safeguard against, as the damage that ensues can have dire consequences - resulting in prolonged service interruptions and costly repair work. Carrying out systematic inspections can often be difficult, due to the large human resources need...
Highway safety improved as companies unite together
Safety came first when infrastructure support service leader Amey ordered a fleet of crane-equipped 3.5 tonne tippers for highways maintenance duties. The company invested in 80 new vehicles fitted with 250kg ‘Swinglift’ electric cranes by Penny Hydraulics, and tipping bodies Bevan Specialist Products.
Omron releases world’s smallest seismic sensor
Omron Electronic Components Europe has announced the availability of what it believes is the world’s smallest class size seismic sensor, specifically designed to trigger the shutdown of potentially hazardous or easily damaged systems in the event of an earthquake. Specifically designed for the growing number of autonomous IoT systems, the Omron D7S provides high precision measurement of spectral intensity, allowing it to reject impulse...
Distribution deal covers wide range of sensors
Mouser Electronics has signed a global distribution agreement with MEMSIC is a supplier to consumer electronics, communications, automotive, medical and industrial sensing sectors. Through the new agreement, Mouser will distribute MEMSIC micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) sensors to customers worldwide.
Mass flow controller suits industrial applications
HORIBA STEC has announced the availability of a range of mass flow products designed specifically for and in response to demand from non-semiconductor industries & applications. The semiconductor industry places high demands on MFC manufacturers to produce products according to SEMI standards which provide users with the highest levels of performance when controlling high purity process gas.
Enabling richer data for the applications of the future
The combination of data from multiple sensor types can give electronic systems much richer and more accurate information about their environment, writes Martin Keenan, Technical Manager at Avnet Abacus.
Redefining the notion of sensors
Sensors have long been a part of electronic systems in practically every industry. They are so fundamental to the operation of these countless systems that it is hard to imagine life without them. Janusz Bryzek, an executive from Fairchild Semiconductor, said that sensors could reach 1 trillion per year and become 15% of the global gross domestic product by 2024.
