Over one million euros raised to invest in R&D
The nano-technology company, Nanusens, has raised over a million Euros (£941,950) from 786 people via Crowdcube. This is a pre-Series A funding round and will enable to company to invest in R&D and additional staff as well as accelerate product roll out.
Image sensors enhance driver and passenger safety
STMicroelectronics has unveiled two new automotive global shutter image sensors, the VG5661 and VG5761, featured for driver monitoring. Both were demonstrated with automotive software innovator Jungo's driver-monitoring solution CoDriver, at the recent AutoSens Imaging conference and at electronica 2018.
High-accuracy hall effect magnetic torque sensor boosts EPS drivability
Global provider of engineered electronics for performance critical applications, TT Electronics, has introduced the SX-4462 Hall effect magnetic non-contact torque sensor, a flexible and cost-effective sensor offering high accuracy and diagnostic capabilities for electronic power steering (EPS) applications including off-road vehicles (ORVs), three-wheelers, light commercial trucks, and tractors.
Duo to develop multi-purpose people and asset tracker
u-blox has announced a successful partnership with Arvento Mobile Systems to develop a compact people and asset tracking device with a long battery life. The Arvento Treyki Mini has eight operating modes, including special settings for tracking kids (with Geofencing), senior citizens (with an integrated fall sensor), and for use in sports, racing, and asset management. It can also be used as an emergency beacon.
Connect: What is a sensor controller?
The Sensor Controller is a small programmable CPU core that is highly optimised for low power consumption and efficient peripheral operation.
Stability with ultra-low power omnipolar hall effect sensors
Global manufacturer and supplier of high-quality application specific standard products within the broad discrete, logic, analog and mixed-signal semiconductor markets, Diodes Incorporated, has announced the AH1911 and AH1921 digital Hall Effect sensors, which combine stable operating and release points (Bop and Brp) with ultra-low power operation.
Embedded vision comes to space-constrained systems
Worldwide supplier of high performance sensor solutions, ams, has announced the pre-release of the NanEyeM, a miniature integrated Micro Camera Module (MCM) assembly with a tiny footprint at the image sensor end of just 1mm2. With its compact design and convenient interface, the NanEyeM is easy to integrate into space-constrained designs, providing embedded vision capabilities in products such as smart toys and home appliances.
Miniature sensors create potential high-performance endoscopes
Supplier of sensor solutions, ams, has announced the introduction of the latest products to its NanEye family, building on the its original miniature image sensor module for endoscopes, the NanEye 2D. The NanEyeM and NanEyeXS, aim to enable the production of high-performance, single-use endoscopes for use in minimally invasive surgery.
Robust IMU targets robotics and drone applications
The BMI088 high-performance inertial measurement unit (IMU) from Bosch Sensortec is now being shipped by distributor Mouser Electronics. Borrowing from Bosch’s proven automotive technology, the IMU delivers an extremely stable, low-noise 6-axis inertial sensor designed for industrial and harsh-environment drone and robotics applications.
