Cutting edge service for wind farm management selected
It has been announced that Tilt Renewable has chosen Greenbyte Energy Cloud for their windfarm management and data analysis. Tilt Renewable operates a full wind portfolio made out of eight farms and approximately 600+ MW, marking the first assets Australia and New Zealand integrated in Energy Cloud.
PFC reference design for HEV/EV onboard charger
This reference design functions from a base of Silicon Carbide (SiC) MOSFETs that are driven by a C2000 microcontroller (MCU) with SiC-isolated gate drivers. The design implements three-phase interleaving and operates in Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM) to achieve a 98.46% efficiency at a 240V input voltage and 6.6kW full power.
Core module for wireless charging of the future
Before electric cars can become a means of transport for everyone, a charging infrastructure needs to be introduced that can serve the mass market. The engineering company, Finepower is developing a charging system that can charge the batteries in all vehicle types wirelessly, regardless of their manufacturer, as it is done inductively. The special circuitry provides a high level of efficiency - with no need to painstakingly position the system w...
3D printed triboplastics replace metallic parts in electric bike
Bicycles have experienced a boom in development lately and most recently, electrification has contributed significantly to this trend. According to the German bicycle industry association ‘Zweirad-Industrie-Verband’ (ZIV) sales of e-bike in the country increased by 19% last year to a total of 720,000 units. In 2016, 605,000 were sold, making this an increase of 13%.
Encouraging starting point for electric vehicles
James Court, Head of Policy & External Affairs, Renewable Energy Association has responded to the Road to Zero strategy with an optimistic outlook on funding and the new regulations for electric vehicle charging.
Taking charge of EVs with inverted and motor control
A charging station is part of the grid infrastructure installed along a street, parking lot or in a home garage; its primary purpose is to supply the power to the PHEV for charging the battery. An onboard charger is responsible for the final stage of charging the battery pack. It takes the AC power source from the EVSE and transforms the power into the required battery-charging profile.
Electric vehicle range: zero emissions from 3.1 to 26 tonnes
With the announcement of its second generation range of fully electric trucks, Renault Trucks is taking a comprehensive approach to the challenge of electromobility. With models at weights from 3.1 to 26 tonnes, Renault Trucks is offering a wide range of solutions for operators providing last mile, urban distribution and refuse collection services.
Rethinking component design for electric vehicles
Despite being first invented in the 1830s, Electric Vehicles (EVs) have only become commercially viable in the last decade. Steve Hughes, Managing Director of REO UK, explains the challenges faced by automotive companies designing the next generation of EVs.
How to make the most of your tyres on an electric vehicle
An electric vehicle or a hybrid is a good choice for drivers who value fuel efficiency and eco-friendliness. The right tyre choice can extend the car’s range, emphasise the best features of the electric vehicle and improve safety. A well maintained tyre will offer power and safety mile after mile with an even 50% longer lifespan.
Home appliance manufacturers advised to test eco-buttons
Eco-buttons have the ability to save consumers time and money, but this cannot be at the cost of efficacy. SGS offers a range of services to help prove the effectiveness of the eco-button. With consumers only replacing home appliances every ten to twenty years, manufacturers must find ways to give consumers incentives to replace products more regularly.
