CUI has expanded its 12 and 24W US wall power adapter series to meet US Department of Energy Level VI efficiency standards, which aim to significantly lower the amount of power consumed when the end application is not in use or is no longer connected. The SWI12-SC and SWI24-SC series meet the more stringent average efficiency and no load input power requirements set to become effective in February 2016.

The SWI12-SC and SWI24-SC series also feature screw terminal connections for designs that require flexibility beyond the standard 1.52m DC cord, including security, home automation and smart applications. The adapters accommodate a wide universal input voltage range of 90-264VAC, are available in 12, 15, and 24VDC output options, and feature no-load power consumption less than 0.1W.

The single-output adapters cover both UL 60950 & UL 1310 safety approvals and meet the radiated and conducted emission requirements for FCC Part 15B Class B. Additional features include short circuit, over current, and over voltage protections.

“The SWI series is the first release in an extensive roadmap of high efficiency adapters designed to meet the DOE’s upcoming Level VI standards” stated Jeff Schnabel, Vice President of Marketing, CUI.  “CUI’s early compliance and implementation of these standards is in an effort to keep our customers one step ahead of the more stringent regulations set to become law next year.”

The SWI12-SC and SWI24-SC series are available through distribution, with prices starting at $13.83 per unit in 100-piece quantities.
