XP Power's HPT5K0 series AC/DC power supplies are now in stock at distributor Digi-Key.

They offer output voltage programming from 0% to 105% and constant output current programming between 0% and 110% via voltage (analogue), I²C PMBus, RS485, and CANopen interfaces.

Other options are RS232 or UART replacing the RS485. The digital interfaces and GUI provide a wealth of user settings and flexibility.

There are three nominal output ranges including 0 V to 60 VDC (0 A to 83.3 A), 0 V to 100 VDC (0 A to 50 A), or 0 V to 200 VDC (0 A to 62.5 A).

Each range offers an auxiliary 5 V, 2 A standby output.

The design incorporates an active preload, supporting output voltage slew rates of 40 ms as standard. The main output can be switched off via the inhibit pin, negating the need for AC line switching for control of the output.

A current share facility allows up to five units to be connected in parallel while the sync connection provides simultaneous output turn-on.

The three-phase input voltage range is 180 VAC to 528 VAC with no neutral connection.

When operating at low-line (180 VAC to 264 VAC), the unit limits the maximum available output power to 3 kW.

Operating at hi-line (342 VAC to 528 VAC) provides a maximum output power of 5 kW.

The average efficiency is 93%. The input-to-output isolation is 4 kVAC, or input-to-ground 1.5 kVAC, output-to-ground 500 VDC.

These supplies are suited for medical applications with 4 kVAC isolation test (option-M), installation Class 3 only.

The forced air cooling has intelligent fan speed control, cooling air is drawn into the unit by three end-mounted fans and exits via the connector panel so that adjacent units will not impede the airflow when they are stacked.

Features include overtemperature, overload, overvoltage, loss of phase, and short-circuit protection.

Isolated output signals are available for AC OK/power failure, DC OK, and fan failure/overtemperature warning.

The operating temperature range is -20°C to +70°C with full power available up to +50°C (derating linearly from 100% at +50°C to 50% at +70°C).

The operating altitudes are 3,000 m (medical) and 5,000 m (ITE). MTBF is typically 600k hrs (Telcordia 332).

LEDs are mounted on the connector panel to indicate AC OK/low/PFC failure, DC OK, output overvoltage, current limit, fan failure/overtemperature, remote OFF, and PMBus operation OFF.

A potentiometer above the LEDs provides ±10% output voltage adjustment (+5% nominal max.).

With 5 kW of power, parallelable up to 25 kW, the HPT5K0 series provides a flexible controllable, high-power, and cost-effective solution for industrial and medical applications.
