Powersolve just announced the introduction of Lithium Polymer thin cells that can be manufactured down to just 0.4mm thick. The CP Series consists of Lithium Polymer thin cells which are primary laminated aluminium thin foil batteries with a nominal 3VDC output.
Very light in weight, the new CP Series cells are available in a wide range of standard sizes from 16mAh up to 3000mAh. Also, according to Powersolve’s Managing Director Peter Clark, the technology allows a customer to request a battery built to a size that suits a specific application.

“This is one of the most exciting products I have introduced during my time in the power supply business“ Says Peter Clark “To handle a 3V power source so small and light is quite frankly amazing and I know that customers will be equally impressed when they consider what these cells can do“.He adds.

Peter Clark lists a number of applications which are ideal for the CP Series cells -including the next generation smart cards, asset tracking tags, electronic tracking systems, smoke detectors and medical equipment. “I am certain that our customers will come up with their own interesting applications for these cells and we look forward to helping them achieve their designs“. He concludes.

1% a year discharge rate
The cells have a very low self discharge rate of around 1% a year with a shelf life of 10 years. The cells are safe in use, explosion proof and operate between – 40 to +85ºC.

The CP 452345 is a typical example of the CP Series. Measuring just 0.45mm x 23mm x 45mm, it weighs 0.7g and gives 30mAh. The smallest standard model gives 16mAh from a 0.4mm x 29mm x 22mm package and the largest 3000mAh from a 5mm x 50mm x 51mm package.
