Power-One's 20A ZY7120 is the eleventh digital-power-management product made available since the production release of its Z-One Digital IBA last year.

The ZY7120 is user programmable, via industry-standard I2C protocols, to provide a 0.5 to 5.5VDC digitally-controlled output, to power a wide range of infrastructure applications including networking and data-storage systems.

The vertically-mounted ZY7120 delivers industry-leading performance and scalability. High efficiencies enable providing over 30 watts/cm3 (500 watts/ in3) power density from a compact 8x32mm SMT footprint and low-profile 14mm height. Digital Pulse-Width-Modulation (PWM) control technology facilitates up to +/- 1% output-voltage accuracy and start up into 100% pre-biased loads, over an ultra-wide 3 to 13.2VDC input range,

I2C-programmable parameters also include: output tracking and sequencing, switching frequency (0.5-1.0MHz), interleaving, feedback-loop compensation, and active digital current sharing that can provide 200 amps from 10 paralleled Z-POL converters. Programmable protection features include: output overcurrent and overvoltage, input undervoltage, Power Good signal limits, and fault management. I2C-accessible real-time reporting includes: output voltage and current, and Z-POLTM temperature.

Impressive installed-cost benefits result from competitive pricing, approximately $16 in OEM quantities, complete SMT-process compatibility, and a significant reduction in power-system components, PCB traces, board space, and development time. Samples are available off the shelf. Production quantities are available in four to six weeks.
