SMD multilayer varistors from TDK EPCOS provide reliable surge and ESD protection for sensitive components and are now available from TTI. Offering high reliability and long-term stability they are ideal for applications such as smart home and security devices.

EPCOS SMD multilayer varistors (MLVs, CeraDiode and CTVS) provide surge current ratings comparable to those of disk varistors as alternatives to TVS diodes, but offer the advantages of enabling smaller and more robust designs.

The EPCOS B72*T* series of SMD multilayer varistors are available in a wide range of types and in compact case sizes 0201 to 2220.

Features include no derating up to +125 °C and low leakage current.

The components are UL compliant, with ESD accredited to IEC 6100-4-2 and surge accredited to IEC 60060-4-5.

Applications for the B72*T* series include providing ESD protection in NFC (nearfield communication) and interfaces (CAN, Ethernet, USB 2.0, USB 3.0, and bus systems).

They are also an excellent fit to give high energy transient/surge protection for thermostats, and Power over Ethernet plus multiple security applications: detection (motion, vibration, opening, breakage of glass, access control, burglar, smoke, heat and water alarms); sender (manual pull stations, emergency call senders, assault senders) and communication modules (ISDN, CSM, info modules, control panels).
