Availability and full design support capabilities for a new ultracapacitor cell from Maxwell Technologies have been announced by Richardson RFPD. The Maxwell 3-volt (3V), 3400-farad (3400F) cell has been designed to be the highest energy, highest power workhorse of its ultracapacitor portfolio.

Whether used alone, integrated into a module assembly, or in a hybrid configuration, Maxwell’s BCAP3400 P300 K04 will help reduce the overall cost and weight of the system while improving the customer’s return on investment.

Customers can seamlessly upgrade to the 3.0V cell from any of the current 3000F or 3400F products.

The ultracapacitor cell is designed to support the latest trends in renewable energy, industrial electrification and transportation, including heavy transportation, heavy industrial and stationary solutions, and grid and microgrid applications.

The device offers high power and high energy, 30 kW/kg of specified power, 4.25 Wh of stored energy and DuraBlue Shock and Vibration Technology. It also enables up to 1,000,000 duty cycles or 10-year DC life* and has laser weldable or screw posts.
