SCHURTER released today the new SMD-fuse type MGA-S meeting the standard of ESA/SCC Generic Specification No 4008 for space applications. As the sole European space fuse supplier, Schurter shows its expert competence in fuse manufacturing and the capability of handling complex fuse manufacturing technologies.

Based on the existing design of the MGA, which is made by thin-film technology, the product meets the requirements of the space industry, which demands a hermetical seal and solid construction.

Furthermore, it offers consistent minimum and maximum clear-times at overload currents regardless of vacuum conditions. The small dimensions with the 1206 footprint [3.2 mm by 1.55 mm] are unique for a fuse in this market segment.

Target applications include equipment that is launched into orbit with a specific focus on satellite power system architectures, which operate up to 125 VDC in vacuum environments. This includes protection of power supplies, batteries and solar arrays.

They are offered in blister tape and extensive test report.
