A 4-line integrated Transient Voltage Suppression (TVS) array designed to protect emerging high speed HDMI 2.0 interfaces against electrical transient threats has been introduced by Semtech Corporation. The RClamp0564P expands Semtech’s HDMI family of TVS devices targeted at the rapidly growing segment of Ultra HD (4K2K) systems featuring the latest HDMI 2.0 interface.

The RClamp0564P is specifically engineered to meet the signal integrity requirements of HDMI 2.0 as well as deliver ESD protection for highly sensitive HDMI 2.0 chipsets.

Built on Semtech’s process technologies, the RClamp0564P achieves ultra-low clamping voltages for optimal transient protection and delivers ultra-low capacitance (0.17pF typical line-to-ground). In addition, its flow through package footprint offers a 20% PCB space savings over traditional 4-line HDMI devices to accommodate board space constraints while improving overall clamping performance.

“To achieve maximum performance from today’s pluggable interfaces, chipmakers are continuing to push toward ever smaller process geometries, leading to controllers and SoC devices that are increasingly sensitive to ESD transient,” said Rick Hansen, Product Marketing Director for Semtech’s Protection Product Group. “The RClamp0564P provides exceptional clamping performance to safeguard HDMI 2.0 interfaces against catastrophic ESD events, while its ultra-low capacitance enables superior signal robustness for the emerging class of Ultra HD products such as 4K television systems, media streaming devices, set top boxes and other similar consumer devices.”
