OKW’s STAR-KNOBS now in flush-fit and surface-mount versions

OKW has expanded its range of STAR-KNOBS, introducing new flush-fitting and surface-mount versions for menu-driven electronics. Designed for rotary potentiometers and rotary pulse generators with round shaft ends (DIN 41591), these ergonomic collet knobs are suited to applications in measuring and control, healthcare, HVAC, communications, building management, and smart factory technology.

The STAR-KNOBS range features click rotation with push functionality for ‘OK’ confirmation, providing a comfortable and intuitive user experience. The surface-mount version tapers slightly towards the inner axis for improved handling. Both variants are available with or without knurls and can be specified with an optional finger recess in the cover for enhanced grip.

For enhanced visibility, optional LED illumination is available for both designs. The flush-fit version can be specified with a ring that lights up between the recess and the knob cover. Meanwhile, the surface-mount version sits on a 3mm-high illuminated ring. Two energy-efficient 5V SMD LED illumination kits are offered as accessories, available in white or RGB.

The knobs are available in two sizes, ø33mm and ø41mm, and each unit comprises three parts: an assembly kit, a knob, and a cover. They are manufactured from PA 6 and PC (UL 94 HB) for durability. Standard colours include volcano, nero, diamond, emerald, and sapphire, offering a modern aesthetic to match various device designs.

OKW also provides a range of accessories, including assembly supports, round nuts, and a box spanner, to simplify installation and ensure a secure fit.

To meet specific design requirements, OKW offers customisation services, including CNC machining, lacquering, printing, laser marking, and the installation of accessories. This allows manufacturers to tailor the STAR-KNOBS to their precise specifications, ensuring optimal integration into their devices.
