C&K Components has developed a subminiature snap switch with extended life cycles and high electrical capabilities. Designated the LCA Series, the compact, RoHS-compatible switches are available in SPDT and SPST configurations with solder, quick connect, or PC terminals.

“A leading power tool manufacturer came to us with the need for a high powered miniature snap switch for a new line of battery operated hedge cutters,” said Vinny Acampora, product manager for C&K Components. “The LCA snap-acting switches were designed to meet both mechanical and electrical requirements, while also reducing cost and lead times. We also extended the flexibility of the device by designing in multiple actuator styles, thus meeting a number of other application-specific requirements.”

The snap-acting switches are also ideal for motorized equipment, sump pumps, thermostatic controls, consumer appliances and electronics, testing equipment and medical devices.

The LCA Series devices are housed in UL 94V-0 approved high temperature thermoplastic or thermoplastic polyester material. The snap-acting switches feature both moveable contacts (silver nickel or gold plated) as well as stationary contacts (silver nickel on copper alloy).

Operating force is 140 grams, and maximum contact rating is 10A @ 125VAC. The snap switches feature an electrical life of 50,000 cycles at 3A @ 125VAC. Operating temperature ranges from -10°C to +125°C. C&K will also develop custom designs to meet specific customer requirements.
