Robust LEDs for AEC-Q102 standard meet toughest demands

“Vibrations and robustness are intrinsic requirements for LEDs aimed at the automotive market but when you are looking at off-road as well as agricultural type applications the level of testing for LEDs here needs to be improved further,” said Selectronic automotive business manager Justin Coleman.

“Our new catalogue builds on the work by Hongli in this field,” he added. “Working alongside Hongli we can offer the expertise needed to match the application requirements.”

Only last year Selectronic and Hongli forged a link with leading inspection verification testing and certification company SGS who assisted the group to successfully pass AEC-Q102 and IC 60810 reliability quality certification for their 3528 and 3433 whole LED series.

They also teamed up with Taiwanese company Epistar in a $75million collaboration to strengthen their market position.

Coleman added: “Along with Hongli’s capability, Selectronic is able to add further design elements to more exactly match the requirements of the application or customer. For example, by adding the LEDs to a PCBA, lens or even complete housing the Selectronic engineering team can build a precise qualified LED assembly to fit most automotive requirements.

“These LEDs are also ideal for the after markets of additional lighting such as fog lights and search lights or for original fitment to vehicles configured for tough off-road conditions. And with Hongli now building an ever expanding range of LED products and lengthening their list of approvals and accreditations, their place as a true alternative supplier is becoming more secure.

“Still not widely known, they have in fact built up a strong reputation for innovation and qualified production of LED products of all types and the automotive market remains a key target sector for them.”
