The QN9090 and QN9030 system-on-chips (SoCs) from NXP Semiconductors are now being shipped by distributor Mouser Electronics.

They feature support for Bluetooth 5 Low Energy connectivity and optional NFC NTAG capabilities with a powerful CPU and advanced low-power modes.

The QN9090 and QN9030 devices are powered by an Arm Cortex-M4 processor running at 48 MHz.

The SoCs include up to 640 Kbytes of onboard flash and 152 Kbytes of SRAM, providing storage space and flexibility for complex applications and safe over-the-air (OTA) updates.

The QN9090T and QN9030T variants integrate NFC NTAG capability to support use cases such as out-of-band pairing.

By tapping an IoT device based on the QN9090T or QN9030T with an NFC reader device, such as a smartphone or tablet, a Bluetooth Low Energy connection can be established quickly, simplifying the pairing process.

The built-in NFC tag does not require the device to be powered, which means it creates additional opportunities for diagnostics or device commissioning in all stages of the device life cycle, from manufacturing to decommissioning.

The QN9090 and QN9030 SoCs help accelerate development and time-to-market for developers creating products with rich features for diverse Internet of Things (IoT) applications such as personal healthcare devices, sports and fitness trackers, connected appliances, building and home automation, toys, and gaming peripherals, as well as beacons and mesh networks.

For evaluation, Mouser also stocks the QN9090DK development kit, which consists of a carrier board, M10 module, and expansion board.

This kit comes with an integrated programmer and debugger, along with a suite of example applications showcasing standard GATT profiles in a complete software development kit (SDK).

The MCUXpresso SDK for QN is compatible with the latest toolchains from IAR and NXP MCUXpresso integrated development environment (IDE).

The full MCUXpresso Suite of software and tools provides a seamless software experience across all NXP devices, as well as a fast path to add Bluetooth Low Energy capability to an existing design on other NXP devices.
