Two lines of microcontrollers, the RX66N and RX72N, from Renesas Electronics aimed at industrial automation applications are now being shipped by distributor Mouser Electronics.

These microcontrollers offer stable performance with large memory capacities for industrial automation equipment and feature a 32-bit RXv3 CPU core, 1 MByte of SRAM, and up to 4 MBytes of flash.

The RX66N microcontroller achieves excellent performance with 698 CoreMark capability at 120MHz operating frequency range.

For higher CPU performance, the RX72NN achieves 1396 CoreMark capability at 240MHz.

Both microcontrollers offer robust security with unique cryptographic-key protection and hardware cryptography accelerators supporting ECC and RSA.

The low-power design and architecture of the devices support a single voltage supply ranging from 2.7V to 3.6V.

The microcontrollers offer a range of communication interfaces, including Ethernet MAC (RX72N is compliant with IEEE 1588), SD host interface, quad SPI, and CAN.

Typical applications include general-purpose inverters, industrial robots, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), industrial motors, motion controllers, power conditioners, HVAC controllers, security controllers, smart meters, and other general-purpose applications.
