Using magnetic permeability to store information
Scientists have made promising steps in developing a new magnetic memory technology, which is far less susceptible to corruption by magnetic fields or thermal exposure than conventional devices. The findings report the use of magnetic permeability, how easily a magnetic field will magnetise a material, and are published in the Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics.
eSSD series achieves VMware Ready status
Toshiba Electronics Europe has announced that its PX02SM Enterprise SSD series has achieved VMware Ready status. This designation indicates that after a detailed validation process the PX02SM Enterprise SSD series PX02SMB160 has achieved VMware’s highest level of endorsement, and can be found on the VMware Solution Exchange (VSX).
SDHC card features close-proximity wireless transfer
Toshiba Electronics Europe has launched an SDHC card that combines Class 10 memory with TransferJet close proximity wireless transfer technology. The 16GB SDHC card, THN-J301W0160E6, will enable users of digital still cameras or camcorders to quickly transfer photos and videos to mobile devices such as tablets, notebooks and smartphones equipped with TransferJet adapters.
Memory card additions suit full HD video recording
Toshiba Electronics Europe has extended its range of EXCERIA memory cards. These additions are made up of a Compact Flash (CF) card, SD and MicroSD cards, all of which combine large capacity and high read and write speeds, making them suitable for full HD 4K video recording in a professional context.
High-speed DRAMs save on board space
A range of synchronous DRAMs from Alliance Memory featuring state-of-the-art silicon from Micron Technology is in stock at Solid State Supplies. The devices are a high-speed, low-voltage 8-Gbit DDR3L SDRAM (Double Data Rate 3 synchronous DRAM) memory and three 512-Mbit SDRAM chips that are 100% equivalent to discontinued memory ICs from Micron.
SATA SSD offers powerful key management methods
Microsemi has announced an ANSI/VITA 42.3-2014-compliant PCI Express interface XMC form factor SATA SSD for industrial and defence applications where ultimate security for data-at-rest is required. As part of Microsemi’s TRRUST-Stor best-in-class Self-Encrypting Drive (SED) technology offerings, the XMC offers powerful key management methods. In the most advanced method, no encryption key is stored in the SSD, leaving data forensically unre...
ECC DRAMs operate up to 125°C
A family of robust ECC DRAM components withstanding even the highest operating temperatures and stress has been released by Intelligent Memory.
Small tilt in magnets makes them viable memory chips
UC Berkeley researchers have discovered a new way to switch the polarisation of nanomagnets, paving the way for high-density storage to move from hard disks onto ICs.
High speed memory test card supports up to 16Gb/s
Advantest has introduced the fastest fully integrated memory test card in history, the HSM16G. The card extends the high-speed testing capabilities of the company’s V93000 HSM series of testers to native 16Gb/s for at-speed testing of ultra-fast memory ICs. Advantest's ATE solution supports device engineering, debugging and volume production of today’s highest speed GDDR5 and future GDDR5X ICs, with parallel data busses up to 16Gb/s.
SATA SSD offers "ultimate" data-at-rest security
Microsemi Corporation has announced a compact form factor SATA SSD for industrial, defence, intelligence, UAV and secure laptop applications where ultimate security for data-at-rest is required. The low power mSATA SSD has 64GB Single-Level Cell (SLC) flash capacity in a 50x30mm compact form factor and is 65% smaller than similar 2.5” devices.
