Multinational networking equipment manufacturer, D-Link, unveiled all new technologies and solutions specifically designed for the future smart city to a global audience at Mobile World Congress 2019. Engineered to meet the demands of dense, connected cities, D-Link is committed to support the digitalisation of urban environments to enable smarter, safer, more efficient cities.

D-Link new technologies and solutions in network connectivity, edge computing, cloud computing, intelligent video analytics, and big data analytics are testament to the company’s pledge to help businesses tackle pressing issues, such as urban gridlock and climate change.

D-Link has partnered with Microsoft to create new smart city solutions, empowered by Microsoft Vision AI, which help businesses to integrate AI and IoT technologies, and enjoy the benefits of digitalisation. This includes D-Link’s intelligent video analytics (IVA) surveillance solutions, which provide smart insights in real-time, 24/7, and D-Link’s big data analytics solutions that help cities and businesses improve efficiency.

Public and personal safety
D-Link is providing more intelligence and convenience to firefighters, police, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and security personnel through advanced Push-to-Talk (PTT) communications, and Facial/Object Recognition done at the Edge; enabling improved coordination, faster response times, and greater transparency.

Traffic management
D-Link Smart Traffic integrates traffic monitoring, connected vehicles, and smart traffic lights to reduce traffic congestion and improve road safety. The company supplies the vast Low-Power Wide-Area IoT sensor networks that smart cities require, along with high-speed connectivity, and low-latency computing at the Edge, the foundation for vehicular intelligence and 5G networks of tomorrow.

Pollution control
Civic administrators, environmental bureaus, and law enforcement agencies demand solutions, like those created by D-Link, to minimise air pollution and emissions while maintaining economic productivity and driver convenience. For example, if an exhaust pipe is producing dangerous amounts of emissions, an automated alert can be raised and identify the vehicle’s license plate using Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology.

D-Link also enables data-driven decision making through real-time analytics that help determine emissions sources at legal levels in respective locations, so that local authorities can better enforce regulations.

Smart retail
Thriving smart cities demand a thriving retail sector. D-Link offers state-of-the-art Intelligent Video Analytics (IVA), and technology for people Counting, heat mapping, facial recognition, and edge computing, solutions that retailers can use to optimise their marketing, productivity, security, customer service, and more.

Smart parking
D-Link is developing IoT-based solutions especially designed to take the stress out of parking a vehicle. Features including IoT sensors, ANPR cameras, RFID, and Edge Computing work collaboratively to alert and guide drivers in their surroundings, while helping them to save time and increase efficiency.

D-Link also offers dynamic payment integration as part of its development of Smart Parking solutions, designed for drivers who need to reserve a space in advance or on the spot. Other features developed by D-Link include parking space automation and scalable multisite management.
