Kontron announces the CP6007 CompactPCI air-cooled blade computer series including the standard CP6007-SA for temperature ranges from 0°C to +60°C and the rugged CP6007-RA which is purpose-designed for harsh environments - following VITA47 for meeting high shock and vibration demands and temperature ranges from -40 °C to +70 °C.

Based on 6 or 8 core CPUs from Intel’s 11th Gen Xeon processors with 10nm technology, the new Kontron CP6007 blade series is suitable for long-term, general computing and server applications based on PICMG2.16. At the same time, it is largely backwards compatible with many previous Kontron blades, e.g. the robust CP6007-RA variant is the successor of the CP6004-RA blade.

Both blades offer remarkable performance-per-watt capability with a highly scalable power budget allowing users the flexibility to tailor power dissipation to meet their exact requirements. The CP6007-RA features a 32GB soldered memory while the CP6007-SA can additionally carry a SODIMM module to provide up to 64GB memory with Error Correction Code (ECC) support in total. A wide range of communication and media interfaces is provided along with enhanced hardware and software based system security through Trusted Platform Module (TPM 2.0).

Various extension options like storage, XMC, PMC and rear-I/O are provided. This includes onboard industrial grade M.2 flash devices (NVMe and SATA), and a 2.5 inch SATA hard disk or SSD to be located on a respective rear-I/O module. XMC compatibility based on XMC.3 is also available for supporting x8 PCI Express, or alternatively PMC for accommodating various other market available extensions.

“Well suited for use in a wide range of harsh industrial and defense environments, our new backwards compatible CP6007 series of air-cooled blades ensures our customers will benefit from an excellent future-proof investment, especially when deployed in advanced Multi-CPU server applications built as virtual machines,” said Rudolf Böffgen, Product Manager, Kontron. “The CompactPCI eco-system, combined with the long-term availability of the 11th Gen Intel Xeon processor family plus Kontron’s reliable technical support, makes the CP6007 an extremely safe choice.”
