Multi-stack radio chips support IEEE 802.15.4 protocol
A series of patented multi-stack low-power radio chips, which support Thread's IEEE 802.15.4 MAC/PHY protocol, have been released by GreenPeak Technologies. This is an IoT and Smart Home standardisation effort, as many other manufacturers within the industry are supporting this protocol, along with a 2.4GHz band, which the GP71x series also supports.
These chips also support Thread's IPv6 protocol, which enables chip upgrades using software rather than hardware. GreenPeak’s low-power radio chips are networking protocol agnostic and can run multiple protocol stacks at the same time.
