Link Microtek has introduced a new series of lightweight microwave gain horn antennas that have been specifically designed for use in military airborne applications. Featuring a thin walled aluminium construction, the AM-LHA series horn antennas are half the weight of standard aluminium gain horns and only a fifth of the weight of traditional brass alternatives.

They provide a mid-band gain of 20dB and are available with rectangular waveguide inputs ranging in size from WR650 to WR28, covering microwave frequencies from 1.2 to 40.0GHz.

Fabricated from flat metal sheet to provide superior repeatability and accuracy, these precision engineered horns come as standard with an Iridite coating and a choice of paint finishes. Wall thickness is just 1mm, while horn lengths range from 84mm for the 40GHz model to 1989mm for the 1.2GHz model.

The horn antennas can be supplied with a variety of waveguide-to-coaxial adapters, and Link Microtek also offers a custom design service to satisfy individual requirements for parameters such as gain, beam width and frequency coverage.
