AEL Crystals plays a major role in reducing the size of the core technology for wearable and IoT devices, with its three latest products: the 1610 watch crystal; the 1210 crystal; and the 1612 oscillator.

The 1610 is claimed to be the world’s smallest 32.768kHz watch crystal, measuring just 1.6x1.0x0.5mm. It is available with wide operating temperature ranges of up to -40 to +105°C and can be specified between ±10 and  ±50ppm, making it suitable for wireless modules, in-car devices, Bluetooth devices and mobile phones, as well as wearable devices, such as smart watches, fitness trackers, and medical and activity monitoring devices.

For reliable operation, the ESR is 60kΩ, making the 1610 watch crystal particularly suitable for low ESR applications such as BLE chipsets. Furthermore, AEC-Q200 compliant versions are available for the automotive industry.

The 1210 is claimed to be the world’s smallest crystal and measures just 1.2x1.0x0.33mm. It can be supplied between 36.0 and 80.0MHz. Operating temperature can be specified up to -40 to +125°C, with temperature stability from  ±10 to  ±50ppm and initial stability as low as  ±7ppm. AEC-Q200 compliant versions are also available.

The world’s smallest oscillator is claimed to be the 1612. It measures just 1.6x1.2x0.7mm and operates across a temperature range of -40 to +85°C. It is reliable, with a temperature stability of  ±10 to  ±50ppm, and initial stability of  ±7 to  ±50ppm. Additionally, it has a wide operating frequency range of 1.0 to 80.0MHz and operates from a 1.8, 2.5 or 3.3V supply.
