SPDT switch targets outdoor unit WiFi access points
An SPDT (Single-Pole Double Throw) switch, optimised for 802.11ac carrier and enterprise WiFi access points, has been released by Peregrine Semiconductor. Compared to the PE42423, the PE42424 is claimed to be 75% smaller and features a 60% increase in power handling and a 350% faster switching speed.
RFID multiple switch monitor tag does not require batteries
Enabling a fast and automated connected/disconnected check of up to 32 switches, the X32 RFID multiple switch monitor tag has been introduced by Farsens. The RFID switch monitor tag can transmit a unique identifier and the status of up to 32 switches to a commercial EPC C1G2 reader without the need of a battery on the sensor tag.
Common mode choke reduces noise in high frequency ranges
To reduce common mode noise in the high frequency range on data and signal lines, Wurth Electronics has introduced a common mode choke with a wide attenuation bandwidth. The current compensated choke combines with a NiZn core, enabling a broadband attenuation response that operates into the GHz frequency range.
RF transistors operate on the 2015 frequency bands
LDMOS RF power transistors, designed for wireless/cellular base stations, have been released by NXP Semiconductors. The Gen9 transistors are aimed at Doherty power amplifiers – symmetric and asymmetric – and have been claimed to show 5% more efficiency within these applications.

An integrated RF power application development system, designed to simplify the development of RF power applications, has been introduced by Freescale Semiconductor. The RF Power Tool system integrates multiple RF bench tool capabilities into a single box, reducing the need for a full bench of RF evaluation equipment.
RF amplifier extends ultra-high data-rate WLAN range
Delivering ultra-low EVM and current consumption for 256-QAM and IEEE 802.11n systems, a 2.4GHz 256-QAM RF high-power amplifier has been announced by Microchip Technology. The SST12CP21 offers high linear output power of up to 23dBm at 1.75% dynamic EVM, with MCS9 HT 40MHz bandwidth modulation at 5V and 320mA consumption.
RF power transistors suit radar pulsed applications
Designed for civilian and military radar pulsed applications, M/A-COM Technology Solutions has introduced two GaN on SiC HEMT RF power transistors. The MAGX-000035-015000 and MAGX-000035-01500S transistors provide 17W peak output power (typical) with 15.5dB power gain and 63% efficiency.
Synthesiser features a typical phase noise of -86dBc/Hz
Suitable for satellite communications applications, the SFS6864A-LF fixed frequency synthesiser has been introduced by Z-Communications. The single frequency C-band synthesiser operates at 6864MHz with a 10MHz reference, and features a typical phase noise of -86dBc/Hz at the 10kHz offset.
PIN diode switches feature high port-to-port isolation
A family of PIN diode switches, featuring high port-to-port isolation, has been introduced by Pasternack Enterprises. With a frequency range of 1-12GHz, the switches provide port-to-port isolation of more than 90dB at 1-2GHz, 80dB at 2-4GHz and 75dB at 6-12GHz. Depending on the frequency, insertion loss varies between 1.0dB and 2.5dB and switching speed between 35 and 75ns.
Clock synthesiser targets comms & industrial applications
Expanding its universal clock portfolio, Exar has announced the XR81112 series suited for demanding communications, audio/video and industrial applications. The clock synthesiser provides 10MHz to 1.5GHz output frequencies with ultra-low phase noise jitter of less than 200fs.
