Ceramic resonator VCO is 70% smaller than competitors
The first in a line of ceramic resonator VCOs, which saves precious board space while delivering exceptional phase noise performance, has been introduced by Z-Communications. The TRO1800A-LF covers an 1800MHz frequency within a tuning voltage range of 0.5 to 4.5VDC, while featuring a spectrally clean signal of -117dBc/Hz at 10kHz offset.
Solid state RF cooker enables quick, easy chef-quality meals
Freescale Semiconductor has introduced its vision for a radically innovative appliance concept that leverages solid state RF technology to revolutionise cooking. Developed in partnership with global product strategy and design firm frog, Freescale says its proof of concept will help enable fresh, chef-quality meals available at home with virtually no effort or prep time.
OCXOs boast improved phase noise performance
A series of ultra-miniature Oven Controlled crystal Oscillators (OCXOs) from IQD Frequency Products are available at Richardson RFPD with full design support. The IQOV-162 Series of OCXOs is offered in 14.4x9.5x6.5mm SMD metal can packages. Standard frequencies include 10.0, 12.8, 19.2, 20.0 and 38.88MHz, with either an HCMOS or sinewave output.
Record-&-playback & RT simulation in one RF tool
Averna has announced the industry’s first RF tool offering high-performance record-and-playback and real-time simulation in one cost-effective platform. The Averna RP-6100 Series is a self-contained, record-and-playback solution for RF application validation. It can capture all GNSS bands, as well as HD Radio, WiFi, LTE, radar and cognitive radio, to significantly advance RF projects and harden product designs.
Industry’s 'lowest power' wideband RF synthesiser
Claimed to be the industry’s lowest power wideband RF synthesiser, the LMX2571 from Texas Instruments integrates an ultra-low-noise PLLatinum fractional-N PLL with a multicore VCO. This enables enabling low phase noise and spurs at only 39mA (128mW) and a PLL noise figure-of-merit of -231dBc/Hz, which is eight times better than the competition and enhances receiver sensitivity.
3.3V PCIe clock generators operate at just 100mW
Expanding its low-power PCIe portfolio of clock generators, Integrated Device Technology has announced six and eight output 3.3V clock generators. The 9FGL06 and 9FGL08 operate at approximately 100mW (roughly one-fifth the power of traditional PCIe clock devices), making them the lowest power 3.3V PCIe clock generators on the market and effectively eliminating thermal concerns.
Single-chip clock IC targets wireless base stations
The industry’s most highly integrated clock IC for wireless infrastructure applications, including small cell and macro cell base stations, has been introduced by Silicon Labs. The Si5380 is also claimed to be the industry’s first clock IC capable of replacing a low phase noise integer-N clock, VCXO, discrete loop filters and voltage regulator components with one single-chip device.
RFID in healthcare expands to smart cabinet systems
Analysis from Frost & Sullivan, titled Market Opportunity for RFID Smart Cabinet Systems in Healthcare, finds that the uptake of RFID smart cabinets is likely to gather momentum over the next three to five years. The United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy and Spain are leading markets.
Block filters offer high symmetrical attenuation
Designed for single-phase systems, the FMAB NEO series of block filters has been released by SCHURTER. The devices combine a compact design with a high level of performance.
High power amplifiers cover UHF, VHF, L, S & C bands
