RF-MEMS switch passes one billion test cycles
DelfMEMS has announced that its twelve throw RF-MEMS ohmic contact switch design has just passed the one billion test cycles milestone and is still going strong.
Infineon & Google develop an IoT sensing solution
Infineon Technologies has announced that it is working with Google’s Advanced Technology and Projects group (ATAP) to develop a sensing solution. Potential applications include wearables, IoT and automotive applications.
RFID transponder wirelessly transfers ID & status
HARTING has enhanced its RFID embedded transponder, Ha-VIS RFID ETB 86v1, with a range of extended functions including the ability to monitor and transmit sensor data. As a result, it becomes possible for an object or component that is equipped with an RFID transponder to determine and wirelessly transfer not only its own ID, but also its current status.
Low-loss RF variable attenuator suits wideband comms
Integrated Device Technology has expanded its advanced RF silicon solutions with the addition of two Glitch-Free Digital Step Attenuators (DSAs), as well as its first product in a new family of Voltage Variable Attenuators (VVAs). These next-gen attenuators feature wide bandwidths, low insertion loss, high linearity, pinpoint attenuation accuracy and a wide temperature range.
Compact watch crystal measures just 1.6x1.1x0.5mm
Measuring just 1.6x1.1x0.5mm, Fox Electronics has announced the introduction of its most compact watch crystal. Although smaller in size, the FX161 crystal operates at many of the same high standards as previous models, making it one of the most efficient tuning forks yet. The crystal’s ultra-low profile and exceptional performance optimises the minimal space available in many portable and handheld applications, including wearables.
Clock generator's integrated crystal saves space & cost
Integrated Device Technology has announced updated VersaClock 5 programmable clock generators, featuring built-in crystals for a simpler, more cost-effective approach to electronic systems timing. The 5P49V5933 and 5P49V5935 deliver the features of IDT’s VersaClock 5 clock generators while reducing PCB space and cost through the integration of a crystal.
SMD crystal oscillator operates from 80 to 320MHz
Featuring a third overtone crystal design, the OW SMD PECL/LVDS crystal oscillator has been introduced by TFC. The device, which features six pads, operates from 3.3 and 2.5VDC. Suitable for frequencies ranging from 80 to 320MHz, the oscillator is offered with the option for the tristate function to be enabled or disabled.
RF synthesiser/PLL combines high performance with low power
Featuring low power consumption and excellent phase noise performance, a wideband RF synthesiser/PLL has been introduced by Integrated Device Technology. The 8V97051 also generates fewer and lower power spurs than similar competing devices, which, combined with the power and phase noise, offers a unique competitive advantage for achieving optimal RF transmission and reception.
Inductive absorbers address VFD circulating current issues
A problem concerning all motors with VFDs , also known as inverter output, is bearing damage and circulating current caused by high-frequency current, resulting in pitting, frosting, fluting, lubrication breakdown and bearing destruction. Filtering out the damaging current before it reaches the motor, Magnetec's CoolBLUE inductive absorbers reduce transient voltages, straight capacitive currents and common-mode currents.
PTP client capacity doubled for LTE synchronisation clock
Microsemi has doubled the Precision Time Protocol (PTP) client capacity of its TimeProvider 2700 PTP GrandMaster (GM) clock, providing synchronisation to LTE Networks. The TimeProvider 2700 now provides simultaneous hardware time stamping support of up to 128 PTP clients, resulting in a significant cost benefit using a single GM clock.
