Anders Electronics has announced the launch of its new ‘Smart Touch Modules’, a range of small to medium-sized TFT display platforms, pre-integrated with touch screen, driving electronics and backlight drivers, ready to be connected via a standard serial port to the device host processor with minimal integration overhead.
These low cost, off the shelf Smart Touch Modules are available in nine different screen sizes and resolutions from 3.5” QVGA to 10.4”XGA incorporating both 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios. The modules are OS agnostic, working with any host operating system, or even without a host OS. The products feature a real time clock, battery, buzzer and a USB port for updating the graphics library. A complementary UI software tool is available to enable rapid and simple implementation of a GUI which is then stored within the on-board flash memory.

Featuring simple, low-overhead mechanical and technical integration, Smart Touch Modules are especially suited to products with low to medium production volumes (500-5000pieces) - enabling device manufacturers to bring their next generation products to market extremely quickly and cost-effectively, making it ideal for developers working with TFT’s and touchscreens for the first time as well as for experienced developers

Display enhancements for the Smart Touch Modules include sunlight readability, chemically strengthened glass, optical bonding, and EMI filters. In addition, Anders offers turnkey GUI design and implementation services, innovative industrial design and fast front panel or casework prototyping to help accelerate time to market for customers

“Senior Management and Product Marketing teams across many non-consumer sectors are all driving towards ‘iphone’ type interfaces for next generation products” said Mike Logan, Product Manager of Anders. “We’ve listened to our customers and believe that these Smart Touch Modules mitigate all the technical and commercial risks usually associated with the integration of colour whilst significantly reducing time to market. Throw in the aggressive price points and the range of standard options available and we’re confident that our customers can now focus on their core competencies, whilst we bring their products to life through the User interface” he continued.
