Renesas and KW-Software have jointly announced the release of new firmware for the Renesas TPS-1 (a.k.a. Tiger) PROFINET chip. Available in December, the new firmware version 1.2 supports multiple new features, including support for shared and highly modular devices, plug and play, extended logbook, FX/TX media converter and much more.

Based on the PROFINET specification version 2.3, KW-Software and Renesas will provide the new firmware after continuous system and IOP testing with market leading PROFINET makers.

Easily fulfilling the most stringent netload requirements, minimum integration efforts are needed to achieve the most robust PROFINET implementation since the application and real-time Ethernet are seperated. The firmware also supports all real-time classes.

The PROFINET IO Device Chip TPS-1 reduces the time and cost efforts for implementing to a minimum and provides device manufacturers with a fast, easy and cost-saving integration of a PROFINET IO device interface.

With dozens of PROFINET products already based on the TPS-1 chip, the new software package will further increase the attractiveness of the product and accelerate the deployment of TPS-1 in the market.

The number of PROFINET enabled nodes are increasing. Providing the best technology available in the market today at a highly competitive price, KW-Software and Renesas enable their customers to benefit from this favourable market environment.
