Portwell Inc., an innovative board and system solutions provider, an associate member of the Intel® Embedded Alliance, announces the ultra low voltage WEBS-1340 Embedded System, utilizing the latest Intel® Atom™ processor N450.

The size of WEBS-1340 is smaller than a half of A4 paper which is 200 x 150 x 51mm. It won't take much space and can easily fit anywhere like small offices and home offices. “With the latest Intel® Atom™ processor N450, we can design WEBS-1340 smaller than previous products,” says Vincent Liao, Senior Manager of Portwell Inc. WEBS-1340 supports two GbE ports, one RS232 and two RS232/ 422/ 485 selectable segments. It is able to put one 2.5” HDD and up to 2GB memory. Besides that, other features include dual USB ports and VGA port. “It is power saving,” says Liao. “WEBS-1340 can help reduce electricity costs and provides extremely good performance per watt.” The WEBS-1340 is suitable for entry-level industrial applications, including factory automation, home automation and network device. It can also be used as non-security based applications, such as VPN, network monitoring and gateway.

Because it is an ultra-low power, ultra-small design, the Portwell Embedded System WEBS-1340 allows customer to consolidate solutions and reduce development cost. The WEBS-1340 supports two GbE ports utilizing Intel® 82567V and 82583V Ethernet controllers. The new system provides customers a high performance/watt solution with competitive price.

“The new Intel® Atom™ processors are powering a wave of exciting new devices that let consumers and businesses experience the power of the Internet in unexpected places,” says Jonathan Luse, director of marketing, Intel Low-Power Embedded Products Division.

WEBS-1340 supports DDR2 667 non-ECC memory up to 2 GB, two Gigabit Ethernet ports through PCI-E x1 interface based on Intel® 82567V and 82583V Ethernet controllers, different storage devices such as 2.5” HDD or SSD (Solid State Drive) via serial ATA and CF (Compact Flash), dual USB ports, three RS232 ports and VGA port. With front LED and rear I/O access, it is easy to customize the panel and case.

Available now, WEBS-1340 is the ideal platform solution for Network Security such as Firewall, VPN, IDS/IPS, Anti-Spam, Anti-Virus and UTM; Network Management such as routers, RAS gateways, controllers and streaming. Other applications include medical DICOM and PACS, and industrial automation control via Ethernet TCP/IP. In addition, the WEBS-1340 can function as a security hardware platform that meets the requirements of Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).
