Chipset supports 4K video over 12Gb/s link

M/A-COM Technology Solutions has announced that its 12G-SDI Chipset supports transmission of 4K60p video utilising a single 12Gb/s link over 80m of L-4.5CHD coaxial cable. In collaboration with Canare Electric, the combined solution allows transmission over long distances required in next-gen 4K editing, routing and transport applications.

MACOM’s 12G-SDI products address advanced video transport applications for manufacturers of next-gen 4K/8K video production solutions, including broadcast video routing and production switchers, video distribution amplifiers, video cameras and monitors.

“As SDI data rates evolve to 12Gb/s to support ultra high definition video, the technical challenges of maximising link length have greatly increased. The ability to support these extended distances will provide the end user with greater infrastructure coverage and flexibility,” said Hasnain Bajwa, Senior Vice President and General Manager, High Performance Analog, MACOM. “Collaborating with partners such as Canare helps to accelerate the growth of the 12G-SDI broadcast video ecosystem.”
