UL panel upholds appeal of cyber security standard
An appeals panel formed by Underwriters Laboratories has ruled in favour of the International Society of Automation (ISA) in an appeal against UL 2900-2-2, Standard for Software Cyber security for Network-Connectable Devices, Part 2-2: Particular Requirements for Industrial Control Systems. UL was seeking approval of the document as an American National Standard, but ISA’s successful appeal prevents that status at this time.
More than half of UK firms suffered a cyber attack in 2019
New research from Hiscox has shown that the proportion of British businesses reporting cyber-attacks has increased, despite most firms admitting that they are under-prepared for data breaches. There has also been a 61% increase in the amount of money that businesses are losing due to breaches, soaring from £176,000 in 2018 to £283,900 in 2019.

UK business PCs have a one in ten chance of malware infection
One in every nine business PCs around the world is at risk of infection from malware at any time, according to new research by Avast. Pakistan, Vietnam and China topped the list of riskiest places to be a business with more than a one in three chance of infection. The United States, the Netherlands and Ireland recorded the lowest business risk ratio globally; however, each still had a one in eleven chance of infection.

Solution for airport security surveillance to improve safety

Attack traffic up by 32% in 2018
New research from cyber security provider F-Secure reports a significant increase in attack traffic in the latter half of 2018. But while attacks are increasing, it seems many companies are struggling with incident detection. Attack traffic observed by F-Secure’s network of decoy honeypots in 2018 increased by 32% over the previous year, and increased fourfold in the latter half of 2018 compared with the first half of the year.
